What Is Forever Living?
Forever Living is a worldwide known American privately held Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) company that sells beauty and nutritional products made from aloe vera and bee.
Forever Living was founded in 1978 by Rex Maughan in Arizona, USA. Its latest reported revenue was in 2010, which is $1.7 Billion with 4,100 employees in 2006. There is no information that is more updated than these numbers by the time of writing.
Forever Living has faced a lot of issues for many years. Among others are tax cases in Japan, IRS issue, misleading marketing campaign, copyright infringement, and trademark infringement.
Between 2011-2016, Forever Living had been battling with products complaints at the state of California, which resulted in removal of the complained products in the market in California.
My Personal Experience With Forever Living
I attended the training with Forever Living many years ago. I still think (even today) that their products are really good. In fact, there are a lot of good product reviews of real users around the net.
However, the products price are seriously overpriced in my humble opinion.
I was just a student at that time, so I asked my dad to lend me money for the investment of more than $200. My dad went directly to the office to find out what it was and he immediately turned down the business. He said – “stay away from this kind of business”.
But I didn’t take his words, I was hard-headed because I was really convinced that I would really make money and I was really amazed at how their system works – I didn’t stop there.
So, I tried to sell the products individually to earn points and commissions. Guess what? It was not easy because like I said the products are overpriced compared to the “ordinary products” in the market.
And the most downturn of all was that every time people heard about “Forever Living” they would think it’s a scam and nobody really wanted to buy!
Honestly, I’m a very shy person and I hate talking about the same thing over and over again. Selling was and still is really my weakness. And to recruit? No way!
So, I had no choice – I dropped the business – that wasn’t that easy as they said in the training was. My dad was indeed right.
Of course, there are few people who are making money with Forever Living. Let’s move on their How To Join, Compensation Plan and why it’s difficult to earn money with MLM business.
How To Join The Forever Living?
You can join the company for free but you need to buy a product package.
You can either start as a Novus Customer (also called New Distributor) or as an Assistant Supervisor depending on which package you are willing to purchase.
This starts from $100 and up to $350+. If you are from Great Britain, you can get the package from GBP 96.44 up to GBP 199.75.
Why Is Earning Money With Forever Living Not Easy?
Earning money with Forever Living is quite complex and far to be easy.
Let’s see the image of the compensation plan applied all distributors with different positions.
Once you joined the Forever Living, you can get promoted by achieving the required points which they call case credits (cc) for each position.
This is the same compensation plan that amazed me back then but looking closer I’m glad I stopped and I’m happy that my dad was a clever man.
Just take a look at how many “cc” they need to climb up the position ladder.
For example, if you become a new distributor you need to achieve 2cc to become assistant supervisor, 25cc for supervisor, 75cc for assistant manager and 120cc for a manager.
Let see what it means using these pictures below.
Can you calculate how many products you need to sell directly? I bet you can. That’s a lot!
And they know that. That’s why they have a multi-level marketing plan, which means you need to RECRUIT new distributors or members.
Next, I will explain why people think that Forever Living is a Pyramid Scheme Or Scam.

Is Forever Living A Pyramid Scheme?
Pyramid Schemes are illegal. They are scams.
The good news is – Forever Living is Not a Pyramid Scheme and it’s legit.
The bad news is – People still think that it is a Pyramid scheme. Unfortunately, they have a reason to believe so.
Forever Living is legit because it has physical products and you can earn money by selling these products. Unfortunately, you can not earn a substantial amount of money unless you recruit people on your downline and make commissions using the network marketing system (which is the main element of a pyramid scheme).
That’s why people who join Forever Living are focusing on recruiting new members/distributors rather than doing the direct selling approach – to make much more money.
Take a look at this illustration:
This is how MLM exactly works.
The reason why people are focusing on building their downline (recruiting new members) is that being on top is where the money at – they make much more money from their downline provided the new recruits will do the same (recruiting).
So, the further down you are in the pyramid, the more difficult it is to make money because commissions are always flowing upwards and most of the profit is stuck on the top.
So, the probability to earn money by joining an MLM business is very low.
How low?
Only 1% Make Money With MLM Business
If you’ve read my bio, you probably remember that I tried at least 3 MLM businesses. Probably I thought It was that easy as they presented it to me or maybe because I was I thought it’s a quick fix.
I thought – all I have to do was to recruit 2 people – one on my right and one on my left side – and the business will take care of itself. I thought it was that passive! And that’s far from the reality.
My last journey with an MLM business was actually a “nicest one” – great products and a good company. But no matter how great the products were – I didn’t make a fortune.
I was recruited by my brother and a lot of my family members became members too. I recruited my friends too – some of them joined.
But you know what the BIG problem was! The recruits of my recruits’ recruits were no longer connected to me. So, once they stopped working, the business died.
Why? it’s because it was more difficult to convince someone to do the sales talk than to convince them to join.
Most of the people who join MLM do actually expect that their uplines will always do the sales work.
Well, I can do the talking maybe 3 times… but not 30 times – saying the same thing over and over again?
What’s funnier is that people expect free dinner or lunch when they get invitations with this kind business – so yes, make dinner at home or rent a whole restaurant and talk the whole time (lol).
So, MLMs are not a quick rich scheme either.
So, why are there only a few people make real money with MLM? Because it’s designed that way – Only people on the top get rewarded and the people at the bottom lose money.
Here’s another static to digest on: Of the people that do make money, the average YEARLY salary is only $2400. That’s only $200 a month or around $17 a day. You can pay bills with that.

Here’s A Better Way To Make Money
I honestly hope that by now I’ve talked you out of joining Forever Living. Forever Living and its products are good. Unfortunately, MLM is such a broken money-making system and extremely hard to succeed with.
Talking about my experience, not only with Forever Living but at least 3 different MLM businesses, I know it’s not easy especially if you don’t like a product demonstration, business presentation and bothering your families and friends over and over again.
